(a) Knowledge Sharing on the role of Forest Certification in Myanmar at UFES
A knowledge-sharing session on Myanmar’s Forest Certification and its role in sustainable forest management took place at the University of Forestry and Environmental Science (Yezin) on September 11, 2025. A total of 124 fourth-year and final-year students participated in the event to better understand the stakeholder landscape.
(b) Awareness-Raising Workshop in Ayeyarwady Region
On November 7, 2025, an awareness-raising workshop was conducted in the city of Pathein, Ayeyarwady Region, to encourage private plantation operators-specifically smallholders-to participate more actively in forest certification. Supported by the MFCC-ITTO Project, the event brought together 29 participants, including 21 representatives from the Private Plantation Association, 4 officials from the Forest Department, and 4 members of the MFCC project team.
(c) Knowledge Sharing at the Assistant Director Training Course
On December 11, 2025, the Myanmar Forest Certification Committee (MFCC) conducted a comprehensive session on forest certification processes during the Forest Department’s Capacity-Building Training No (11) for Assistant Directors in Nay Pyi Taw. The session focused on deepening the participants’ technical knowledge of certification standards and procedures, highlighting their vital role in achieving sustainable forest management (SFM) goals.
(d) ISO 17065 Training
To fulfill the accreditation requirements for Certification Bodies, MFCC facilitated a specialized training course on ISO/IEC 17065 from December 15 to 16, 2025, in Yangon. The training was provided by ABSQ ISO Training Centre and the session was attended by ten participants, including staff from MFCC’s Notified Certification Bodies and MFCC personnel. The training focused on the essential principles and requirements for bodies certifying products, processes, and services, marking a key step toward achieving formal accreditation.
