First and second stakeholder workshops for the MFCC-ITTO project “Strengthening Sustainable Forest Management Standards and Timber Legality Framework in Myanmar” supported by Forestry Agency of Japan

 

Myanmar Forest Certification Committee (MFCC) is implementing a project “STRENGTHENING SFM STANDARDS AND TIMBER LEGALITY FRAMEWORK IN MYANMAR” in collaboration with ITTO and supported by Forestry Agency of Japan (FAJ). The project was commenced on 1st February 2021 for two years. The project is designed to enhance and strengthen sustainable forest management standards, national certification system of forest management and the Chain of custody in Myanmar. This project is a continuation to strengthen of the previous MFCC-PEFC (3) years project which is implemented from 2018 to 2020.

Since the project was implemented, MFCC need to conduct the inception workshop, explanations and discussions of the project to the relevant stakeholders. Although inception workshop was planned to conduct at the beginning of the project, it could not be held physically because of the risk of COVID-19 pandemic. But nonetheless Expert Advisory Group of the project has been formed and decided to hold the workshop with Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Stakeholder Group according to the Stakeholder Analysis of the project. The first workshop with representatives of Primary Stakeholder Group was held on January 18, 2022. The second workshop which was held on 28th January with the aim of explaining the project to the representatives of Secondary Stakeholder and Tertiary Stakeholder Group.

Objective of the Workshops

To inform and discuss the project stakeholders for the indicators, outcomes, and the information to be implemented during the two years project period.
